Join your neighbors and Openlands, a local nonprofit organization,

to plant FREE trees in our Galewood community!

YOU CAN HELP IN MULTIPLE WAYS:

1) Get a Tree! Have an empty parkway? Sign up for a free tree!

Openlands' licensed arborists will select the best tree for your parkway. All trees are native species (like oak, kentucky coffee tree, northern catalpa, etc.) and are selected to thrive at your location and to promote tree diversity on your block.  Openlands professionals will ensure you parkway is suitable and that no sewer, water, or gas lines will be disturbed during the digging process. Trees are 100% free to you and are 1.5-2" in diameter and 6-10' tall. Your obligation? Water the tree over the next two years. Don't worry--there will be reminders! And, you can certainly reach out to Openlands staff with any questions! Date and time TBD.

2) Help Plant! Even if you don't have parkway space to spare, volunteer your time to help plant trees.

No prior knowledge or ability required. Trees will be delivered to the sites. Volunteers will be instructed on-site by trained professionals. Volunteers will dig, plant, mulch and water! All ages and abilities welcome! Date and time TBD.
